Meeting Minutes

New members:  None.

Old Business:

• Minutes- A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2009 meeting as previously distributed.
• Financial Statements- Neal McGrath reported that the Club treasury had a balance of $2,785 at the end of January.

• Anderson University R/C Flying Course- In January, Doug Davidson of Anderson University attended the meeting.  Doug is a former member of Tri-County and indicated that he was going to offer a course on R/C flying as part of the University’s  Life Long Learning Program.  The class will be held on Friday afternoons from 3:00pm -4:30pm beginning February 27^th.  As of January 8^th, Doug indicated that he had only 2 students sign up for the course and was not sure if the administration would let him proceed with such low enrollment.  

New Business:

• Welcome Committee- In a continuation of last month’s theme of better communication, a motion was made and unanimously approved to establish a welcoming committee.  The idea is to give new and potential new members a single point of contact to avoid overwhelming them with information. The initial members of the Committee are John Solon (chairman), John Moll, Ed Stewart, Ken Whitfield, Bill Kirkpatrick and Jim Farley. New members and potential new members should be referred to one of these individuals.  As always, however, you should still introduce yourself to new members and visitors to make the feel as welcome as possible.
• Flag Case - Frank Rothmann built a beautiful case for the flag that was presented to the LaBrec family.  It was unanimously approved to reimburse Frank for the cost of his materials, $57.
• First-Aid Kit - Jim Farley reported that there still did not appear to be any issues with the Club continuing to use the flying field after Shaw closes its facility.  However, after the guards leave at the end of July we will have to find another place to keep the first aid kit.  It was decided that we would construct a place to keep the kit at the field out of PVC pipe.  Please be on the look out for this in case of emergency.

Announcements:

·        Next Meeting- The next meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday March 5^th at the Anderson County Airport.

·        The Flying Tigers are holding a Swap meet February 21 in Scranton SC.  For more information go to www.flyingtigersrc.com.

·        Rudy reminded everyone that there is a used equipment page on the Club’s web site.

·        2009 Dues – 2009 dues were due January 1, 2009 and payable now.  Dues for individual and family memberships are still just $30  Please complete the attached renewal form and mail your 2009 dues to the following address:
