Meeting Minutes

New members:  Joe Goeppner and John Miller were approved as new members.  Please make a point of introducing yourself to these new Club members at the flying field.

Old business:

• A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the August 7, meeting.
• Neal McGrath reported that the Club had expenditures $90 for mowing and $242 of BallonFest expenditures, including the purchase of a trainer for give-a-way, and receipts for dues from new members of $105 leaving a balance of $2,247 in the Club’s treasury.
• Eric Walker reported that the Trainer and Club membership raffled away at the BallonFest was won by Zach Walker, a Boy Scout.
• The Club also sold $187 of tickets to win the electric plane.  As the plane was donated by the Hobby Connection, all of the proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the Hunt family.
• Final preparations for the visit to NHC of Anderson at 10:30am on Saturday September 20 and the Carolina Fest on Saturday September 27 were discussed.  

New Business:

·        Eric Walker asked that Club members sign up to help with the Special Olympic meet to be held the weekend of October 25^th.  As a reminder the Special Olympics is the charitable organization that the Club had voted to support.

·        Please be prepared to make nominations for new officers for 2009 at the October meeting or submit your nominations to Eric Walker prior to the meeting.  We will need to fill all positions except safety officer with new officers for 2009.

Safety: A couple of safety reminders:

·        Remember to get a pin before turning on your radio

·        Periodically check the hinges on the control surfaces of your plane

·        Do not fly over or toward the pitts
